MMCAA STUDY PROGRAM
MMCAA and Dep Ed, Division of Quezon City Signs Agreement

The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between the MMCAA, the Department of Education and the three public schools chosen as beneficiaries of the S.T.U.D.Y. scholarships took place at the Caritas Hall of Miriam College on October 24, 2008. Present at the event were Dr. Victoria Q. Fuentes, District Superintendent of Public Schools (Quezon City), Dr. Rowena A. Cacanindin, Assistant Superintendent of Public Schools (Quezon City) and the respective principals of the Old Balara, New Era and Krus na Ligas High Schools. On the other hand, the MMCAA was represented by members of the its Chairperson Bunny Fabella, Vice-Chairperson Tootsie Moreno-Vicente, President Atty. Mari D. Fabian, Trustees Nina Daza Puyat, Bea Alonso Sanvictores and Corporate Secretary Ella Ignacio Carlos.

The six students selected as STUDY scholars were accompanied by their parents and teachers. The three other students who were awarded scholarships on a personal basis by Trustees Aglipay, Fabian and Vicente were also present together with their parents.

MMCAA President Mari Fabian opened the brief program by stating that among the projects of the MMCAA, the S.T.U.D.Y. program is the most meaningful and most relevant. She also expressed the MMCAA’s commitment to support the six scholars for the next four years to see them complete their high school education.

What would have been a simple award ceremonies turned emotional as the life stories of the scholars moved many to tears. After the certificates were handed, Dr. Fuentes gave a short acknowledgement speech when she encouraged the students to take advantage of the privilege they have received. On the part of the scholars, Evelyn Grajo of Balara High School, Al Jhun Patricio of New Era High School and Diane Soleta of Krus na Ligas High School thanked the MMCAA and promised to continue studying hard and excelling in their studies.
