(NOTE: Maria Carminia Lourdes Cynthia
(Chin-Chin) Gutierrez is an alumna
(College ‘92). In 2004, she received a
TOWNS (The Outstanding Women in the
Nation’s Service) Award for her work on
environmental conservation. This school
year, she was hailed as one of our
alumni “Stewards of the Earth” by the
Miriam College Environmental Studies
Institute. Her house was engulfed by
fire early morning of December 20 and
they were not able to salvage anything.
Chin-Chin suffered second-degree burn as
she was saving her mother from the fire.
Until now her mother is still in ICU. We
appeal to our alumni to help out and to
please support this project. Merk’s Bar
Bistro is owned by another fellow alumna
Veronica Tapia-Merk (COLL ’75)).
