NOTICE TO ALUMNI: SUMMER
BREAK
Miriam College (MC) will
have its institutional summer outing on
April 27, 2007 and its summer
break for all employees for SY 2007-2008
on April 28 – May 5, 2007. This
summer break is part of the on-going
Matinding MAKITIPS program, which
results in significant savings to help
with the school’s continued operations.
During the break, the school will be
closed for operations and employees will
not report for work. In order to
obtain the full benefits of the scheme,
no overtime work will be allowed during
the break. Classes and work will resume
on May 7, 2007 (Monday).

SUBMISSION OF JUBILEE CLASS
DIRECTORIES
All 2007 High School and
College Jubilee classes of 1957, 1962,
1967, 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997
and 2002 and Grade School class of 1982
are reminded to submit their updated
class directories by June 29, 2007. We
need to encode this information as soon
as possible before we start preparing
and mailing the homecoming invitation.

SUBMISSION OF CLASS ARTICLES
All celebrating jubilee
classes of 2007 are also requested to
submit their class write-up/articles and
photos to the MMCAA Office for inclusion
in the 2007 MC Times on or before July
13, 2007.

MC HOST-FAMILY PROGRAM
Anamaine Asinas – IPO,
Miriam College
There
has been a growing number of
international students and foreign
guests coming to Miriam College in
recent months. In some instances, these
guests have indicated their preference
to stay with host families to fully
immerse themselves in the Filipino way
of life. To respond to this need, the
International Programs Office (IPO) has
launched in 2006 the Miriam
College Host Family Program (MCHFP).
The program is open to all Miriam
College employees who are willing to
accommodate a foreign student / guest in
their homes for a few weeks/months. J

Ms.
Marie Geraldine M. Sabado (COLL
1991) and Ms. Nancy L. de los Reyes
were recently appointed as Grade
School Assistant Principal for
Academic Affairs, Lower School and
Assistant Principal for Academic
Affairs, Middle School respectively
effective April 1, 2007.
Ms. Sabado is an A.B.
Child Development and Education graduate
from Miriam College. She has been a
member of the Grade School faculty for
16 years teaching Araling Panlipunan and
Art Education. In her years at the
Grade School, she has served as Araling
Panlipunan and Art Education Subject
Area Supervisor.
On the other hand, Ms. de
los Reyes is a Bachelor of Elementary
Education graduate from the University
of the Philippines College of
Education. She has been teaching
Reading and Language in the Grade School
since 1992 and was previously Reading
Subject Area Supervisor.

Dr.
Donna Paz T. Reyes was appointed as
Executive Director of the
Environmental Studies Institute (ESI)
effective April 1, 2007.Dr. Reyes
holds a BS Zoology degree from the
University of the Philippines, a
Masters in Business Administration
from the Ateneo Graduate School of
Business and a Ph.D. in
Environmental Studies from the Royal
Melbourne Institute of Technology,
Australia. She has been Deputy
Executive Director of ESI since 1998
and is currently Associate Professor
teaching Ecology, Environmental
Education, Environmental Values in
the College and the Graduate School.

The President’s Office
seeks an Athletics Officer to take
office in June 2007. The Athletics
Officer will report directly to the
President with the following duties
and responsibilities:
1. Set-up the Athletics
Office organization and staffing.
2. Develop guidelines and
procedures for athletics programs and
activities.
3. Develop and manage an
institutional athletics program that
will integrate the different units’
athletics activities, recruitment and
training program, and support services
for student athletes in fulfilment of
institutional goals.
4. Coordinate and
supervise the various intramural and
extramural activities of the different
units and institutional athletics
events, and supervise the use and
maintenance of athletics equipment and
facilities.
5. Develop and manage
annual budgets for the institutional
athletics program and office operations.
6. Serve as the link between the
administration and the athletics
departments of the units, and the link
between Miriam College and other schools
and external sports associations and
institutions.
7. Represent the school
in various external athletics events and
meetings.
8. Coordinate athletics
events with the External Affairs Office
for promotion.
9. Perform other duties
as assigned.
Requirements:
The candidate should have
completed a Bachelor's degree preferably
with masteral units. Sports
Administration experience is required.
Candidates must have excellent
interpersonal skills and strong
leadership as well as strong
organizational qualities and managerial
ability. Prior intercollegiate playing
and/or coaching experience required. A
background in Sports Psychology is an
advantage.

SYLVIA V. ROCES-MONTILLA HS ‘54
Exemplifies a genuine
spirit of volunteerism. Her commitment
to her family and being a writer did not
in any way prevent her from being
involved in activities which benefit the
underprivileged, and the physically and
mentally handicapped children. Among
the apostolate work she did in the past
and offices held included: a feeding
program for malnourished children; a
teacher aide here and abroad; introduced
SPED Individual Education Program;
co-founder and member of the Board of
Trustees of Riding for the Disabled;
Chairman of the Board and President of
the Learning Center, Merville
Subdivision; Board member and Community
Council Director of Ang Arko ng
Pilipinas and representative to the
International Council Meeting L’Arche
International ,Japan.
She is currently the
President of Ang Arko ng Pilipinas, a
non-stock, civic, charitable
organization whose aims are patterned
after L’ Arche (L’Arche is an
international federation of communities
which welcomes people with mental
handicaps called “core members” and
those who want to share their lives with
them. It was founded in 1964 by Jean
Vanier, a French nationale, when he
first welcomed two mentally handicapped
men to live with him in a small house he
had bought in a French village).
