Programs

Community Empowerment and Governance Program

Through various approaches in community organizing, INSA develops community (youth and adult) leaders for community service and governance. Through their active involvement, INSA helps facilitate the creation of self-propelling communities.

Community Welfare and Services Program

As part of its integrated approach to community building and empowerment, INSA provides the following support services to its five partner communities:

• Livelihood Skills Training;
• Community-Based Health Care; and
• Educational Aid Grant.

Volunteer Service and Outreach Program

INSA orchestrates volunteer efforts and steers outreach initiatives of individuals and groups within Miriam College towards meaningful community service and advocacy work for social justice.

The four areas of focus under this program are:
• Gurong Lingkod (for teachers);
• Miriam Volunteer Mission or MVM
• (for new college graduates);
• Sectoral Support Groups
• (for students); and
• Kilusan ng Miriam sa Kalamidad (KMK).

Justice and Peace Advocacy Program

INSA promotes the awareness on and facilitates collective response to critical issues related to human rights and social justice among teachers, students, and community leaders.


Service-Learning Program

INSA advocates the integration of community service and academic endeavors to enhance student learning and develop their social responsibility.

Catechetical Ministry Program

INSA promotes faith-life integration among urban poor families and public school children. Furthermore, INSA encourages their participation in the Church and its mission through catechetical instruction and sacramental celebrations.
 

    With the yearning to create more impact, Miriam College merged CESO, OSI and INSA into one center with unified vision and goals. As it shifts gear with revitalized programs and strategies, (the new) INSA vows to uphold its commitment to the empowerment of the poor and marginalized groups in the society. And as a significant player in the civil society, INSA commits to sustain its dynamic engagement in education and mobilization on various national issues.

Services

Aside from the services that are already integrated in its programs, INSA provides the Miriam College community with the following services:

A. assists in the community outreach activities of the different units;
B. serves as clearing house for “request for assistance” from non-governmental organizations and people’s organizations;
C. facilitates the selection of beneficiaries and coordinates the distribution of the proceeds from the “Las Posadas Gift to the Child Jesus” and the Institutional Christmas Package Drive;
D. assists the Human Resources Office in its Institutional Scholarship Program through home visitation;
E. orchestrates the disaster response initiatives of the different units..
